You make them. I make them. Everyone makes them.

Mistakes happen everyday and all the time.

Especially, if you're like me and a young entrepreneur trying to figure out your company and its path - mistakes/failures are numerous.

Coming from an athletic background and playing sports in college, the words “failure” and “mistakes” at times weigh heavier on me.

On the tennis court, I failed all the time. I lost a match - failed. I missed a forehand in the net - failed. Double fault - failed.

This past month and a half has been one of the craziest, most stressful, and most exciting since graduating.

It’s been a month of reflection in my personal life and in business.

I just celebrated my 25th birthday while marking off two huge company goals in the past month or so.

When I first went into music publishing two years ago, I made a goal list for myself and for the company.

Two of the company goals were to win an AIMP Award and to have a Plaid Flag Music song played at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

Perfectionism: refusal to accept any standard short of perfection according to Google Dictionary.

Fun stuff, right?

Even as I start to write this article I’m already thinking, “If my journalism mentor read what I am typing right now would she hate it? Would her notorious red pen be bleeding all over this section? Changing words here and scratching out lines there?”

One of my biggest struggles on a daily basis is trying to tell myself everything I do doesn’t have to be perfect. Well, my sneakers do.

I’ve always loved the mantra “Go big or go home.”

Anyone that has ever seen me play a tennis match or a basketball game can attest I embrace this belief. Good or bad. But I like risks and I like big rewards. Probably a good thing I don’t gamble.

This past month, I finished a book titled Just the Funny Parts: ... And a Few Hard Truths About Sneaking into the Hollywood Boys’ Club, by Nell Scovell. Nell, creator of the television series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, is a talented female producer, author, magazine and television writer who tells her story of being one of the few women in writer rooms over the last 30 years in Hollywood.

She says the good, the bad, and the truth - with a heavy dose of humor. I highly recommend it.

Welcome to the first post in the Entrepreneurship section!

You’re probably looking at the image above completely confused, or maybe you completely understand what’s happening. It is entrepreneurship right?

My talented friend Suz created this illustration and nailed it. (Link below to her site)

At first, we struggled to decide what kind of artwork I wanted to represent this. She asked me, “Ok, you’re 24-years-old. Describe what 24 has been like for you.”
