Last Tuesday, the United States Women’s National Soccer Team made headlines for a historic win over Thailand. The next day, headlines either praised or criticized the players for a record setting game winning 13-0.

The debate revolved around whether the 13-0 victory portrayed poor sportsmanship by the team continuing to score and celebrate their goals.

While watching the women play Chile yesterday, I asked a few close friends (some past college athletes) their opinion on the headlines.

Ten days ago, on a drizzly, grey Sunday afternoon, history was made.

2018 Masters champion, Patrick Reed, helps Tiger Woods slide on his iconic green jacket.

A perfect fit.     

His fifth.

The crowd roaring louder than ever.

Viewers glued to the TV back home in disbelief.

A victorious comeback unlike anything the sports world has seen.

And it all happened in a few hours Sunday morning at the Masters in Augusta.

When I was younger, I wanted to be Serena Williams and Tim Duncan (or somehow just sneak onto playing for the Spurs). You know, the casual two sport professional. Clearly, neither of these things happened, but I’m still a San Antonio Spurs fan through and through. (Only two posters of Timmy in my office)

I’ve now retired to much more intense adult leagues and company ping pong tournaments.

I don’t know what makes someone fall in love with something, but I know ever since I can remember, sports were it for me.
