Favorite Place To Buy Sneakers PT. 1

A question I get asked a lot is “Where do you get your shoes?”

I personally prefer shopping brick and mortar, but sneaker shopping in Nashville can be limited.

One day, the dream would be to own my own sneaker shop, but until then, I’ll keep ordering and shopping online.

Now of course when I travel, sneaker stores are the first thing on my agenda, and if you know me, you know I’m not much of an agenda person.

I’ve tried my fair share of sneaker sites and everything I recommend in this post is my personal preference and what I have come to like with time.

I actually buy and check prices from multiple sites, but consistently one place that has had the best customer service and most competitive pricing is StockX.

What is StockX?

“StockX is the world’s first stock market for things – a live ‘bid/ask’ marketplace. Buyers place bids, sellers place asks and when a bid and ask meet, the transaction happens automatically. Retro Jordans, Nikes, Yeezys and more – now 100% authentic guaranteed” (StockX Website).

It’s a live marketplace where I can bid on shoes I love or purchase them for a set price. Something to note, it is a resale site. But StockX only sells deadstock (brand new shoes in the original box and 100% authentic).

The website is easily navigable and simple to use. The site practically walks the customer through the entire process of creating an account (which is free), bidding on a pair of shoes, then alerting the customer if the bid has been accepted.

The bid only stays live for 30 days then the site will give you an option to redo it.

StockX’s alert system is something I love. They notify you if someone outbids you or if the lowest ask goes even lower. They keep you well informed without blowing up your email.

Pro tip: Try to remember and check on what shoes you bid on. Sometimes I get caught up in the bidding and then BAM…. A seller accepts a bid I never thought would get accepted and I have two pairs of new sneaks. (Which is not the worst possible thing but not great for the monthly budget).

I once placed a bid on a pair of adidas Human Race thinking there was no way the seller would go as low as my bid. Two weeks later, I received an email from StockX notifying me the seller had accepted my bid for the adidas Human Race NMD Pharrell Holi Festival. They were way more than I would have paid for a pair but never thought the seller would accept the bid! So just remember to keep track of that and hey, you might get an amazing deal on some dope sneaks!

Also, a detail I absolutely love (It’s the nerd in me), once you click on a shoe, the site will show the past year of transactions, the number of transactions, and the average sale price. It will also show the original list price which is just a little extra information and it will inform you if you are getting a good price on the shoe or not.
